The Craft
Every stitch
by human hands.
In a workshop on the outskirts of Florence, four artisans build every LUXE mattress. There is no assembly line. There are no machines that tuft, side-stitch, or tape-edge. There is a needle, waxed cotton cord, and sixty years of inherited knowledge.
We source wool from a single co-operative of shepherds in the Casentinese Valley — fleece that has never been chemically treated. The linen is woven on shuttle looms in Belgium. The springs are tempered steel, individually wrapped in fabric pockets, and assembled by hand into honeycomb arrays that conform to the body without transmitting motion.
Each mattress takes between 14 and 22 hours of hands-on labor. It is tufted with 40 to 60 hand-tied buttons, side-stitched with flax thread, and finished with a hand-sewn label bearing the artisan's name and the mattress's serial number.
